I'm looking forward to working on "Wide Open Spaces" today. I painted my husband on his motorcycle in acrylic on a 12 X 12 inch canvas.
The Artist's Mind - Artist's RECEPTION will take place tonight from 5-7 p.m. at Folsom's Harris Center. I began my 3D Assemblage art piece with a mannequin head found at Stand Up Placer Thrift Store. My plan was to use that as a base and attach items strategically to it. As I wear glasses, I used an old pair of 3D glasses from the movies. The back of the head is where sight is actually processed, so I removed the lens from one side and painted an eye there. On the other lens, a cross was surrounded with blue green grass glitter and two blue plastic star beads. Using safety pins, I attached the glasses to the mannequin's head.
Sunday is Mother's Day and it's a long day for me. I am praying it will go well. I just want my boundaries to keep me safe. I will visit (or not) my mother when I visit her. It's no one else's business.
I miss my eldest daughter. She lives over 3000 miles away and we no longer fly anywhere.
I am hoping to spend some time with our youngest daughter and her family next week.
I have a solo exhibit artist's reception at Gallery 1855, 820 Pole Line Rd in Davis, California on Tuesday, May 16th from 1-3 p.m. I have several 36 X 36-inch acrylic paintings for sale.
Sometimes I go into the foothills to draw and I may do that next week.
I also want to go to Blueprint Coffee Shop and see the one 13 X 16-inch acrylic painting I have on display and for sale for the Stop Stigma Sacramento art show. It's in Old Sac, CA.
And did I mention that I will have a soulo exhibition in December at the Old Soul @ 40 Acres Coffee Shop in Oak Park, California? Would love to check out that venue to see what would work best there. It's on the ground floor of the Old Woodruff Hotel. It was also formerly known as The Guild Theater.
